With a new design for Opel, the GTC concept predicts the design language of the future models. With the progressive shape and surfaces, the four seats coupe has unique head lights and tail lights based on the LED technology, which gives Opel a new style.
The light show has underlined the GTC theme using the same LED technology for the whole presentation. The evening's visual effects formed a part of the futuristic iBar concept: various objects, like mobile phones or the drink glasses were connected by the concept car animation and the Opel sign. Additionally, a distinct note to this show was given by the red color which was reflecting the interior lights and the red seat, steering wheel and tire lines.
The entertainment was ensured by the "Pink Martini" band and a fashion presentation. "This presentation perfectly underlines the GTC concept as a new interpretation of the Opel brand", explained Alain Visser, marketing CEO for Opel Europe. "The unique concept lines, the dynamics and flexible interior reflect the Opel characteristic tendencies". "Through the GTC concept model, our team developed a new Opel essence - bold, relevant and distinct - into a high performance four seat coupe", said Bryan Nesbitt, GM Europe Design CEO. "This style is expected in the future Opel products".
The key elements of the new Opel GTC concept (4830 mm long, 1867 mm wide, 1432 mm high) start with a front performance and aggressive part, symbolized by the vertical aluminium air intakes, by big dimensions, which intersect with the head lights. These vertical elements are symmetrical with the rear exhaust pipes.
The interior, in relation with the exterior, creates a dynamic visual impression and reveals the new esthetic standards of the producer. The dashboard's typical flexibility is ensured by the "Flex4" system. The rear seat's sword bearer can be folded separately, by remote, creating a flat loading surface.
Opel GTC concept is equipped with a turbo 2.8 liter V6 gasoline engine, which develops 300 bhp, 4 wheel drive, electronically controlled. The maximum torque is 400 Nm, available from 1850 to 4500 rpm, it makes 6 sec. from 0-100 km/h. The maximum speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h.
