The 2011 edition of the Geneva Motor Show has proved a bumper year for dazzling new concepts from the world’s leading car manufacturers. Crowds have flocked to the event for decades to witness the very latest in motoring design and technology paraded at the Geneva Palexpo and this year the competition for attention was fierce.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of our favourite new concepts from the show, some of which will reach production lines, some of which will remain concepts.

Audi published the first official photos of the new A1 Metroproject Quattro concept, which will be launched at the Tokyo Auto Show. The design of the small A1 brings more masculinity for a model in the mini class.

The series model will be the main rival of the Mini Cooper model. The new concept has a well shown aggressivity which "scares" the competition. The front grid along with the lines of the body give a unique look to the last Audi concept.

BMW surprised everyone at the Shanghai Auto Show by proving to everyone that they can be a major "player" in the 4 door coupe market, which is practically "owned" by Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin and Porsche. They presented the all new BMW CS concept model.

The CS concept model is expected to appear in the BMW's 8th series. BMW CS Concept has the new platform from the 7th series, the length and width are a few centimeters larger than the current 7th series models, although the height was lowered to give it a sporty look.

Bugatti EB 16.4 Veyron Pur Sang is a vehicle built in Molsheim. It was presented at Frankfurt and only 300 models will be made.

Bugatti Veyron's body is made of aluminum and carbon fiber which wraps the big W16 1001 bhp engine. The body has two main colors: black and silver. The engineers combined the comfort with the power and the light with the darkness...

Chevrolet will present a new prototype which captures the essence of one of the most successful coupes of all time: Camaro, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This car which, over the years, has become the main concept of the "muscle-cars" has been sold in a number of 699,000 units since its first launch in 1966...

A new American legend, Dodge Challenger, will be presented at the Detroit Auto Show.

It looks like the success of the GT 40 and the new Mustang has started a madness in the rebirth of the true American auto design. Anyways, for now it's only the fourth "retro-revival" model, next to the Mustang and the Camaro...

The new Mustang overwhelmed thousands of fans and customers world wide.

"When we saw the new Mustang, we agreed on two things: it's the best model after the original and we have to get it", said Fabrizio Giugiaro, style director at Italdesign - Giugiaro S.P.A. "We still think that it is important to show the world some style, which can interpret special models from the history and the image of the important brands"...

The first images of the new concept which will be presented this month by Jaguar at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Its name is C-XF, and, theoretically, this will be the car which will replace the current S-Type.

The Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A president Stephan Winkelmann said: "Reventon is the most extreme vehicle built by Lamborghini; the Lamborghini Style Center designers took the technique part from the Murcielago LP640 model".

Lamborghini Reventon was designed in Sant'Agata Bolognese, the place where Lamborghini and the house of super cars which have the bull sign were born. Only the 20 collectors and the constructor's friends will have the chance to buy and to be in one...

The new Maserati Grand Turismo, designed by Pininfarina will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show.

Maserati Grand Turismo is a sports car thought to be easily used in the day to day life. Its a rival for the Mercedes CL and the BMW 6th series. It has a 4.2 liter V8 engine which develops 405 bhp. The engine like the chassis, are developed by Ferrari. The weight distributes is almost ideal: 49% in the front and 51% in the back. The car has a automated gear box with an adaptive system, which adjusts the gear changing according to the driver's driving style...

Nissan has announced the debut of the new Skyline GT-R at the 37th Auto Show from Tokyo.

Because of the Nissan tradition of fulfilling promises and because the new concept looks realistic, we could say that this is the way the new GT-R will look. It will probably loose some minor details like the carbon fiber material from which the body is built...

With a new design for Opel, the GTC concept predicts the design language of the future models. With the progressive shape and surfaces, the four seats coupe has unique head lights and tail lights based on the LED technology, which gives Opel a new style.

The light show has underlined the GTC theme using the same LED technology for the whole presentation. The evening's visual effects formed a part of the futuristic iBar concept: various objects, like mobile phones or the drink glasses were connected by the concept car animation and the Opel sign. Additionally, a distinct note to this show was given by the red color which was reflecting the interior lights and the red seat, steering wheel and tire lines...

With the occasion of the 2011 Tokyo Motor show, Subaru has presented a new concept called the “Advanced Tourer” alongside the usual Impreza and the new BRZ.

The press release sent by the car maker presents a station wagon “situated” in the compact segment with an innovating exterior design and a high degree of usefulness. The propulsion is based on a Boxer engine with direct fuel injection, which is supplemented by a hybrid system without altering the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
